Hi loves,
A new travel blogpost, this time I didn’t go
that far from home. I went to Rotterdam in the Netherlands for about 2 days.
I’ll give you a short update to show you what I did back there.
First of
all I’m going to show you my travel outfit. As you may know, or not know the
weather isn’t pretty nice in Rotterdam right now, in the daytime it’s about 10
degrees (and when I was there, there was literally no sunshine).

DAY I
I was
staying at the Mainport hotel Rotterdam which is a 5-star hotel. The hotel has an
incredible view over the water and canals of Rotterdam (which is btw such a
modern city). All new buildings and such pretty architecture.

We went
straight to the ‘Markthal’ which is a covered market where you can buy any type
of food you like. From the typical Netherland food as a croquet to Chinese food, donuts, tapas,…
Everything you dream off. I tried a special kind of croquet with mozzarella,
pesto and basilicum mayo.

After
eating my snack, we (my parents and me) went straight to the famous
‘kubuswoningen’ or ‘Cube houses’. The
title says enough I think. (Check the
picture bellow). Yes, people actually live here, crazy right?!

We arrived
in the afternoon, so we were really hungry. So we found such a cool restaurant
called ‘Pierre’, they serve French food. We took the sea bass fish with
pesto and fries with truffle mayo and my mom took the coq au vin with of course some fries.

recommend us to go, to the Food factory)

Recommend? Yes!

For dinner
we went to the restaurant of our hotel.
DAY II
The next
day we went exploring a little bit around Rotterdam. Shopping, museum visiting,
seeking for art in the streets like graffiti walls,…
That’s how we found about ‘luchsingel’, all different kind of bridges
around in Rotterdam, it is in the neighborhood of the station. The bridges are
painted in almost fluo yellow which is picture perfect for Instagram. In the
walls of the bridges where names of people who are in love engraved, something
like they do in Paris with the locks.
At the luchtsingel is also a super famous 'Instagram wall', it's a just a normal wall with graffiti on it but the pink makes it all pretty and worth posing for.

After that we went with the watertaxi (I know right, I’m not even
kidding) to the other side of the water. It's around 4 euros for one person to go to one side of the water, if you want to go back you have to call the company and pay again.

Fenix food factory
We grabbed some lunch at the Fenix food
factory. It’s kind of the same concept as in the ‘markthal’ but with less
foodshops and the atmosphere is pretty cozy over there.
We shared some plates, 5 different cheeses, a plate with tapas from
Morocco, and some delicious bread from Jordy’s Bakery in combo with some hot
tea because we were freezing.

To finish our trip in style, we grabbed some ‘stroopwafels’ or syrup
waffels (which are typical for the Netherlands) with some hot Nutella.
Love,
Atlilys 👄💞
